Refried beans need no prep beyond heating — open the can, warm it, done. Dried beans need soaking and cooking, but cost less per 100 g and let you season them yourself. Manila Bambi Foods is the main source for both, with a couple of grocers filling in the gaps for plain canned beans.
Short answer
Cheapest, ready to use: El Mexicano Refried Black or Brown Beans, ₱180 for 430 g (₱41.86 per 100 g) direct from Manila Bambi. No soaking, no cooking.
If you want whole beans instead of a paste: Field Day Organic Black Beans, ₱205 for 425 g (₱48.24 per 100 g) via Healthy Options. Unseasoned, so you control what goes in.
Only verified dried option: Campo Florido Negro Beans Dried, brown variant only (black is sold out), ₱370/kg direct from Manila Bambi.
Refried & Canned
El Mexicano’s two flavors are priced identically and both ready to heat and use. Field Day and Ceres are whole beans in water rather than a mashed paste — pricier per 100 g, but unseasoned if you’d rather season your own batch.

Both Healthy Options and Organics.ph set minimum order values for delivery outside Metro Manila, so check that before ordering just one can. A Shopee reseller (“Mexiloco”) also lists the El Mexicano Refried Bayo Beans SKU, but the listing is JS-rendered and we couldn’t confirm current price — worth checking directly before it goes live as an affiliate link. Also worth knowing: Manila Bambi’s own product page URLs for the two El Mexicano flavors are swapped from their current names, a leftover from a past rename — double-check which link goes to which flavor.
Dried
Costs less per 100 g than any canned option, but needs soaking and several hours of cooking before it’s usable.
| Seller | Product | Size & price | Per kg | Shipping | |

| Manila Bambi Foods | Campo Florido Negro Beans Dried (Brown) | 1 kg — ₱370.00 | ₱370 | At checkout | Check price |
Only the brown variant is in stock — the black Campo Florido beans are sold out on the same product listing, so check back here if black is what you need. We found no Shopee or Lazada listing for dried Mexican-style beans (pinto or black) under any brand — Manila Bambi looks to be the only verified local source for cooking beans from scratch.
What won’t work: Filipino munggo (mung beans) is a different bean with a different flavor and texture — it won’t substitute for pinto or black beans in a taco or burrito filling.
